The festive December in Ljubljana this year begins before the first Sunday of Advent, starting already on Friday, 27 November. This is when the Christmas lights will switch on and the Festive Fair will open, adding a tinge of fairy-tale spirit to the city until 11 January 2016.

This year, the festive December atmosphere will lighten up the streets of Ljubljana a week longer than in previous years. During this time, numerous free events will take place in the magically decorated old town.

Traditional December events include the St. Nicholas Fair and Festive Fair, Grandpa Frost Processions, the Good Fairy, street art and organ grinder performances, Christmas concert in front of the City Hall and diverse concerts at numerous squares in the Old Town. Again, the New Year’s Eve will be marked by a variety of concerts by renowned musicians of different genres and at midnight, the fireworks from organic and biodegradable materials will lighten up the sky above Ljubljana.

With its December decorations and Festive Fair, Ljubljana ranks among the most attractive European capitals, which are a must-visit during the festive Christmas period.
