With its colourful cosmopolitan spirit, Ljubljana Festival contributes a great deal to the life and energy of Ljubljana. An aditional attraction is its main venue, the picturesque Križanke Summer Theatre, a gem of 13th century architecture rebuilt to its present form by the famous architect Jože Plečnik. Festival events are also held at a number of other prestigious venues in Ljubljana and its surrounding areas.

The highlights of Ljubljana Festival 2015 yet to come include the renowned pianist Nikolai Lugansky, the Israel Symphony Orchestra with Zubin Mehta as conductor, the National Beijing Opera Company of China, who will perform the opera Turandot, and the Sofia National Opera and Ballet, who will perform the opera Tristan and Iseult.

The more relaxed events will include a concert by 2Cellos and the musical Mamma Mia! The festival will close on 28 September, with a concert by the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie.
