The selection of world's most sustainable destinations is carried out by a jury of internationally recognized experts in the field of sustainable development. The list is a joint initiative of international organizations Green Destinations, Travelmole's VISION on Sustainable Tourism and the Destination Stewardship Center.
Ljubljana, which also proudly bears the title of European Green Capital 2016, was the first holder of the Slovenia Green Destination quality mark last year, when the national certification scheme for it was established.
