»You're never far from the green and serene in Slovenia's castle-topped capital. At its heart is a leafy river, around which bike paths, food markets and arts festivals unfold.« is an introduction to Jessica Vincent's article about Ljubljana. To feel the pulse of Ljubljana's watery heart, she starts her journey around the city by kayaking along Ljubljanica river, which is »a key to life here«.

While she is paddling past the cobbled streets, she admires the city's stunning architecture, sustainable orientation and exquisite gastronomy. She is particularly impressed by the Atelje restaurant and Monstera Bistro, which are »revolutionising Slovenian cooking«, however she also emphasizes that it is street food that reigns supreme in this city.

She continues with describing Slovenia's traditional flavors, admiring Ljubljana's urban but green scenery and lists a number of places worth visiting.

The whole article is available in the May issue of the National Geographic Traveller (UK).
