The three-day show was an opportunity to present Ljubljana as an attractive meetings destination to meeting organisers from all over the world. Meetings between Ljubljana Tourism and meeting organisers showed that there is a great deal of interest in the Slovenian capital as a events destination - the demand was also linked to important events already confirmed for the coming years.
Current challenges at the City DNA workshop
Ljubljana Tourism also participated in other events related to the MICE industry. For example, before the start of the show, Ljubljana Tourism attended a workshop organised by City DNA, an organisation that brings together European city destinations in a common effort to achieve successful, sustainable tourism development, chaired by Mr. Petra Stušek, Managing Director of Ljubljana Tourism. The aim of the workshop was to bring together representatives of tourism organisations and convention bureaux to discuss the current challenges they face, from sustainable development efforts to financial challenges and other topics.
The meeting also brought together the partners of the EU CVB Network, a network of European congress bureaux that European destinations, including Ljubljana, founded a few years ago, in the belief that they can benefit both their individual organisations, the other members of the network and, their clients through the integrated marketing campaigns and the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices.
The Ljubljana Talks - new episodes
The new Ljubljana Talks were also filmed in Barcelona, created and hosted by Jan Oršič, Head of the Ljubljana Convention Bureau at Ljubljana Tourism, and Gorazd Čad, Director of Tolerance Marketing and Editor-in-Chief of the online magazine Kongres magazine.
They include discussions on Ljubljana as a quality congress destination, the ever changing business of the local and international MICE industry, global marketing trends, the management of creative events and other topics with speakers from different walks of life (in the meetings industry). The half-hour talks are broadcasted on YouTube.
Twenty-four new episodes of the Ljubljana Talks were recorded live at the IBTM, thereby (also) raising Ljubljana's profile in the international meetings industry.
