Ljubljana among finalists for the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022

A sustainable and digitalised capital The European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022 is the third edition of such competition. Ljubljana was awarded both times, in 2018 as the best city in the field of sustainable development and in 2019 for progress in the digitalisation of the city. The European Capital of Smart Tourism is an EU initiative, currently financed under the COSME Programme.

Through the project’s events and activities, we actively raise residents’ awareness of the benefits of tourism, and nurture in them a firmer sense of pride in their city, and a stronger feeling of belonging to it. The objectives of the project were to: • improve residents’ understanding of the positive impacts of tourism, • encourage domestic tourism and strengthen the sector’s resilience, • boost cooperation among providers operating in the city.
