Green Supply Chains
We began the project in 2015 with the goal to increase the share of food and drink made with locally produced ingredients that are offered to tourists visiting Ljubljana. The idea was to connect the city’s green hinterland, in which more than 800 farms supply the capital with their produce, with tourism providers in the city itself.

Themed cycle routes around Ljubljana
From Fužine Castle it follows the riverbank through the Štepanjsko Naselje and Kodeljevo districts into the city centre (Petkovšek Embankment, Prešeren Square, Congress Square, Novi Trg) and ends on the river at Špica. The Plečnik cycle route (14 km) links Plečnik’s legacy in the Trnovo district, at Žale and in Tivoli Park.

This year the Green Destinations organisation also gave the “Best of Cities” award to Ljubljana at one of the world’s biggest and most important tourism trade fairs, ITB Berlin.
