Ljubljanica River Barrier
Ljubljanica River Barrier © Dunja Wedam © Dunja Wedam The length of the Ljubljanica river embankments landscaped by the architect Jože Plečnik extends all the way to the Ljubljanica River Barrier, located by the Cukrarna building, where Plečnik envisaged a monumental triumphal arch in order to symbolically mark the point where the river leaves the city.

Cobblers' Bridge
The 19th century saw the building of a new, cast iron bridge. On the initiative of the architect Jože Plečnik it was later moved to a site opposite Ljubljana's maternity hospital to connect the Zaloška cesta and Poljanska cesta roads. Like Plečnik's Trnovo Bridge, the present Cobblers' Bridge was conceived as a broad balustraded platform connecting two different parts of the city.

St. Bartholomew's Church
The church was later redesigned by Ljubljana’s greatest architect, Jože Plečnik. Next to it, he created a stone staircase that leads to Tivoli Park. Plečnik left a semi-circular opening in the roof above the main entrance.

Church of St. Michael
The building of the Church of St. Michael was a project which, in one way or another, involved Plečnik's entire family: his nephew Karel Matkovič was the local priest who commissioned the building; the architect's brother Andrej funded most of construction costs; the money left behind by Plečnik's deceased brother Janez was used to settle the remaining debts.
