Tourism is an important economic sector that creates numerous jobs, opens business opportunities, and enriches life in the city as a whole. At the same time, it is also a source of dedicated funds that support a wide range of events, projects, and tourism infrastructure — all of which benefit residents as well. Tourism enriches Ljubljana and the wider Central Slovenia region, making it greener, more vibrant, more connected, and more innovative … ultimately more welcoming for both residents and visitors.

Our efforts are also reflected in the many best practices of Ljubljana Tourism.

    Ljubljana boasts its own rose variety, one that bears its name. This white rose for “white Ljubljana” (as the city is poetically known) adorns city parks and other public areas and contributes to Ljubljana’s orderly and colourful appearance.

    The aim of the Green Supply Chains project is to encourage the use of local ingredients by local tourism providers and more widely.

    Every winter the European Food Summit brings top names from the culinary world to Ljubljana. The event is accompanied by a programme of prestigious culinary events in Ljubljana and the surrounding region.

    The themed cycle routes were designed by the ZaMestoPoDveh group in conjunction with the City of Ljubljana, while Ljubljana Tourism participated in the marking of the routes.

    In 2018 and 2019 Ljubljana Tourism ran an operation called “Enhancing the digital promotion of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana region as one of the leading tourist destinations in Slovenia”.

    The Ljubljana Card offers visitors the best and most economical way to discover Ljubljana. As well as free admission to the majority of the city’s principal sights, it offers unlimited travel on public transport and a whole range of other benefits.

    The Ljubljana Convention Bureau, which operates as part of Ljubljana Tourism, is the principal pillar of a destination integration model called the Ljubljana Convention Bureau Consortium (LCB Consortium).

    In 2019 the Ljubljana Convention Bureau, which operates as part of Ljubljana Tourism, founded the Ljubljana Ambassador Club.

  • Ljubljana Tourism develops and sells collections of distinctive Ljubljana-themed souvenirs. Common to all the products is that they are imaginatively designed, made from quality materials and accessibly priced. Some are the creations of leading Slovenian designers.
