Ljubljana Tourism's most notable awards

Ljubljana Tourism received many accolades throughout its 15 years of existence. Ljubljana's popularity as a tourist destination has also been on a steady rise. Here's a short list of the most notable awards received by Ljubljana Tourism in the past few years.

  • January 2020

    Ljubljana won the prestigious Meeting Star Award at the 12th Conventa, the largest meetings industry event in the region of New Europe. Our city was awarded as the best congress destination in the category of cities hosting events for up to 2,000 people.

  • November 2019

    Ljubljana received a high commendation award for its Green Supply Chains project in the category Best Food Destination at International Tourism and Travel Awards at World Travel Market in London.

  • October 2019

    Ljubljana won the digitalisation award in the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2020 competition. Ljubljana was declared the winner of this prestigious title by an independent panel of experts at the award ceremony which took place on 9 October in Helsinki. Gothenburg and Malaga shared the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2020 award.

  • October 2019

    For the fifth time, Ljubljana has made the Global TOP 100 Sustainable Destinations list, maintaining its position as one of the world’s most sustainable destinations.

  • March 2019

    The first day of one of the largest and most important tourism trade fairs in the world, the ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus Börse) concluded with a ceremony of prestigious awards to the best destinations from the Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations list. This year Ljubljana won in the Best of Cities category, receiving the award for its best practice – the implementation of the Locally Grown Food Exchange (Borza lokalnih živil).
