Simona Žiher is a ceramic designer and the founder of Studio Mache, where she creates handmade pieces—primarily functional tableware and decorative ceramics. She began her design journey while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and further expanded her skills during an exchange program at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, specializing in ceramics and porcelain.
In her work, she uses a variety of techniques, including mold casting, hand-building, and wheel-throwing. All of her pieces are made from high-quality clay—stoneware or porcelain—which makes them dishwasher-safe and oven-friendly.
She draws inspiration from architecture, nature, art, dreams, and memories, aiming to give her pieces a contemporary feel and elegant form. Her collections are often named after women, as she seeks to present clay—shaped into soft, organically elegant forms—as gentle, intimate objects.
Her creations bring subtlety and elegance into everyday life, especially around the dining table. She believes that ceramics and food together can create beautiful aesthetic experiences. Simona hopes her work will enrich and brighten the moments when people take time to enjoy a good cup of coffee or a meal in the company of friends and family.
