TOASTED

Creations from baked plastic

It all started with an ordinary toaster. Instead of toasting bread, young industrial designers Nina Mršnik and Nuša Jelenec melted discarded plastic inside it.

With a philosophy of reuse and sustainability, they aimed to create a unique material for crafting innovative products. In 2013, their toaster experiment led to the birth of a new, groundbreaking material—baked plastic… and from it, Toasted was born. Today, they use a refined process to shape one-of-a-kind handcrafted products that challenge uniformity and daily routine.

No two pieces are ever the same, ensuring that each creation is truly unique. Toasted is a story of sustainable design, innovation, and reimagining the ordinary in an entirely new way.

Nina Mršnik graduated from the Venice University of Architecture, majoring in industrial design. She also studied in Aveiro, Portugal, majoring in visual communication and art. She holds an MA in Product Design from the Royal College of Art in London. During her studies, she worked at Fabrika, Benetton's research center. She is also the co-owner of the company Kobeiagi kilims, which deals in Bosnian kilims and draws portraits.

Nuša Jelenec graduated in industrial design from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana. She completed her studies at HDK - School of Design and Crafts, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
