Ljubljana hosted the EFMD deans and directors general conference 2017

Lecturing at the conference were also Violeta Bulc, Msc, the European Commissioner for Transport, and Jeffrey Sachs, special adviser to the United Nations and professor at Columbia University in New York City. New projects: Gallery and special event venue 'Cukrarna'

With the revamping of this massive empty industrial building that will provide an eclectic space for standing receptions for up to 1,000 delegates, the city will get a new special venue and a gallery of over 2,500 square metres. It will be the biggest exhibition space suitable for more demanding Slovenian and foreign art exhibition projects, as well as for other events in the field of culture, the arts and education.

Slovenia will be awarded the title European Region of Gastronomy 2021

In Ljubljana, the expert commission visited the Dobrote Dolenjske shop, the Open Kitchen at the Central market and the chef Igor Jagodic at the Strelec Restaurant. In the city's surrounding area of Central Slovenia, they got acquainted with the work of chefs Luka Jezeršek at Dvor Jezeršek 1768  and Luka Košir at Gostišče Grič.
