The jury was impressed by Ljubljana's various smart solutions including the official tourism website with its rich content and a series of apps - especially the Tap water app for locating water fountains all around the city. 35 cities from 17 member states applied to this year’s competition, with an independent panel of experts selecting ten cities that have shown excellence in all four competition categories.

The Ljubljana Rose
In 2015 it was selected on the basis of assessment by an expert panel and citizens’ votes. Since then more than 2,600 roses have been planted in the city’s parks and public areas outside various city institutions, schools and nurseries. Every year rose plants are awarded to the winning block in the Best Block campaign, which takes place as part of the City of Ljubljana’s annual city clean-up campaign For A More Beautiful Ljubljana.
