The June in Ljubljana Festival celebrates its coming of age this year and once again invites visitors to the city centre, where art, music, dance, theatre and creativity will come to life under the open sky. The organisers will present the festival programme on the open-air stage in front of the pavilion in Zvezda Park and on the main stage at Congress Square, offering a diverse free programme for visitors of all generations.
They will open the festival with a concert by Uroš Perić & The Bluenote Quartet & The Pearlettes, followed by a varied programme of music, dance and theatre performances. Highlights will include a concert by Rock Mulčki with guests, an evening of ballet stories performed by talented pupils and students of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, a gala ballet evening by the Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Ljubljana, and the dance performance Display 26: Against the Wind. Young musical talents will take the stage at the Mladi zmaji concert and the season finale of Špil Liga, while the Pride Parade will bring socially engaged content to the festival programme.
The organisers will also include circus and acrobatic attractions, the ceremonial opening of the international festival Imago Sloveniae and Summer in Old Ljubljana with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as a musical journey around the world performed by pupils of the Ljubljana Moste - Polje Music School. A special part of the festival will be dedicated to children, with daytime performances, puppet, music and dance shows, creative workshops and the popular festival play installation.
On the summer solstice, 21 June, they will join more than 700 cities around the world in celebrating the Fête de la Musique. More than 400 musicians of various genres will fill Ljubljana’s old town, the Ljubljanica riverbanks, squares, bridges and other public spaces with music.
