The Ljubljana Pride, which includes a Pride Parade, is the best-attended LGBTIQ+ social, political, cultural and entertainment event in Slovenia. Under the slogan “Democracy in Our Hands – Hope Is Our Resistance”, the organisers will present a diverse cultural, social and political programme, culminating in Pride Day on Saturday, 13 June 2026.

The parade is organised by the Pride Parade Association, which was founded by various civil society organisations working in the field of LGBTQ rights. It was first held in Ljubljana in 2001, both in memory of the uprising against police violence at the Stonewall Inn in New York and as a response to the intolerant and offensive behaviour of staff at one of Ljubljana’s bars.

Since then, the Pride Parade has become a traditional event, attracting large numbers of participants from Slovenia and abroad every year. The Pride Parade Festival programme includes a variety of events addressing topics such as intersex issues, historical memory, peer violence and more.

On Pride Day, visitors will first be invited to the Pride Village in Zvezda Park, where LGBTIQ+ organisations, initiatives, artists and community supporters will present their work. In the evening, the celebration will move into the streets: the parade will gather at AKC Metelkova mesto before making its way towards Congress Square.

The festival will conclude there with a political and cultural programme featuring speeches, community messages and performances by queer artists from Slovenia and abroad. The Ljubljana Pride Parade remains an important public event that combines culture, activism and community spirit while highlighting the importance of human rights, democracy, freedom of assembly and an inclusive society.
