His music transcends genres, as evidenced by the Grammy Awards he has won in as many as ten different categories – from new age and pop to country, and most notably jazz. He is believed to be the only musician in the world to have achieved this.
Pat Metheny, guitar

He has won a total of twenty Grammy Awards and received three Gold albums, while building an impressive body of work that includes numerous jazz standards. Collaborating with artists as diverse as Ornette Coleman, John Zorn, Joni Mitchell, and David Bowie requires remarkable musical flexibility and outstanding technical virtuosity.
Among his greatest inspirations are Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, and The Beatles. For more than four decades, Metheny has remained a key figure in the world of fusion jazz, attracting a wide audience – including listeners with a taste for musical experimentation.
With the Pat Metheny Group, active with various lineup changes since 1978, he has made a major contribution to the development of the fusion genre and cultivated his distinctive lyrical sound under the renowned label ECM Records. He composes contemporary classical and film music, dreamy solo ballads, and virtuosic compositions, creating a canon of new standards while continually seeking out promising young musicians with whom to share his artistic vision.
