PLEČNIK AND A-CAPPELLA 2026: O ROYAL MAIDENS (HE PUELLE REGIE)

The title of the concert, “O Royal Maidens,” derives from one of the liturgical invocations and reflects the way monastic spirituality understood nuns: as noble souls, “brides of Christ,” called to serve the heavenly King. The programme is based on the Dominican antiphonaries from Radlje ob Dravi (c. 1700) and the Carthusian antiphonaries from Gosnay (16th century), now preserved in Pleterje. It is complemented by excerpts from a monastic chronicle and by instrumental works.
