The tradition is carried on by the grandchildren of the founder, Antal Kovács the elder, who passed away ten years ago. Romano Drom (“The Roma Way”) remains true to its roots, but is constantly renewing itself and creating a contemporary musical experience. Their music combines centuries-old Romani culture with elements of Catalan rumba, Arabic and Balkan pop, and the rhythms of percussion and other instruments.
Since its foundation in 1999, the group has travelled the world, performing in Cairo, New York, South Korea, London, Beijing, Oslo and almost every European country. Their musical world has made them one of the most sought-after representatives of contemporary Roma culture. They have released six albums, including a unique remix album, and are constantly developing their sound. Their 2014 album COLORS featured new arrangements using wind instruments and elements of electronic music.
The group strives to bring their music to people who may not be familiar with the Vlach Roma culture and make it appealing to a wider audience, while maintaining the authenticity of their melodies.
You're warmly invited!
