Design a Unique Piece with Martina

Experience the lightness of creation inspired by jewelry designer Martina Obid Mlakar and her signature symbol – the feather. Together with Martina, you’ll craft your own bookmark, which can also be worn as a pendant. By giving discarded metals a new life, you’ll explore the entire creative process – from idea and sketch to the basics of forging and chasing.

Founder Martina is an acclaimed jewelry designer and restorer who masters the secrets of gold, silver, and many other metals. Her distinctive pieces have been featured in renowned exhibitions worldwide, earning her several national and international awards. Her bracelets from the Feeling Free Collection are presented in the book New Bracelets: 400+ Contemporary Jewellery Designs, while her bookmark On the Wings of Words was selected for the Made in Slovenia gift catalogue by the Centre for Creativity.

For Martina, the bookmark combines two of her greatest passions – metal and books. Your feather will be a lasting memory of the day and of Ljubljana – UNESCO City of Literature. Under her gentle and patient mentorship, you’ll also discover that metal, much like people, can experience stress and fatigue, but eventually finds the right hands and the right moment to relax again.

Creating your feather in the hidden courtyard of Gornji Square is more than learning a skill – it is a quiet, mindful meditation. A beauty shaped in form, material, and thought that will stay with you long after the workshop ends.
