STRIPARNA STRIPOLIS

Comic studio and shop in Poljanska 11

Striparna Stripolis is the only specialized comic book store in the center of Ljubljana, offering a wide selection of domestic and international comics—from cult classics to indie releases—as well as an extensive collection of fanzines, graphic novels, and illustrated books.

More than just a shop, Stripolis is a meeting point for comic enthusiasts. It hosts new release presentations, exhibitions, author meet-and-greets, and workshops, giving visitors an opportunity to dive deeper into the art of comics. Passionate about visual storytelling, Stripolis actively nurtures the comic scene and fosters creativity among both emerging and established artists.

They are also co-organizers of the Tinta Festival, Ljubljana’s premier comics festival.

Izar Lunaček is a philosopher and comic book artist. He has a dozen published albums to his name, including a collection of the first Slovenian webcomic Založeni raj, the first Slovenian comic to be published in the United States, Animal Noir, and a comic book adaptation of his PhD thesis The Sacred and the Funny (orig. Sveto in smešno). Izar is also a co-founder of Tinta, Slovenia’s main comic book festival, and a recipient of a knighthood for his efforts in connecting the Slovenian and French comic scenes.
