Ljubljana among finalists for the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022

A sustainable and digitalised capital The European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022 is the third edition of such competition. Ljubljana was awarded both times, in 2018 as the best city in the field of sustainable development and in 2019 for progress in the digitalisation of the city. The European Capital of Smart Tourism is an EU initiative, currently financed under the COSME Programme.

Landscape park: Tivoli, Rožnik, Šiška Hill

Ljubljana is one of the few European cities with a protected forest area so close to the city centre. The landscape park, which is the perfect distance from the city’s hustle and bustle, neither too near nor too far, is an oasis for all those who love living with one foot in the forest, and the other in the midst of the lively city and all its delights.

Golovec, Krim and the Lake below Krim

The route mainly follows macadam and asphalt roads, although there are some sections on cart tracks and paths. This varied route leads from the city over Golovec and Krim and across the Ljubljansko Barje wetland back to the city. Head south out of the city (stopping to visit the Ljubljana Botanic Garden).
