We recommend hiking up Sveta Ana from the village of Jezero by Podpeč Lake; the route is full of variety and begins by one of the main attractions of the Ljubljansko Barje wetland – Podpeč Lake – where in summer there is a small bathing area. The popular Gostilnica Jezero, serving traditional Slovene food, stands by the lake. The glacial lake is fed by underwater thermal springs, making the water surprisingly warm in summer. We take a traditional pletna boat to the only natural island in Slovenia. On the island, we climb 99 stone steps to the Baroque church and ring the wishing bell.
