Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ljubljana, Župančičeva ulica 1, 1000 Ljubljana

In February, An Enemy of the People takes the stage at SNG Drama Ljubljana. Ibsen’s drama explores the struggle of an idealistic individual, who sincerely pursues truth and justice, against the rigid machinery of society that violently resists any change or recognition of its own faults.

This is one of Ibsen’s most highly regarded plays, with a rich history of interpretations and performances worldwide. For Slovenian theatre, it holds particular significance due to its strong influence, along with other Ibsen works, on the dramaturgy of Ivan Cankar.

Before the premiere, you are warmly invited to a historical overview of Ibsen’s plays on Slovenian stages, presented through photographs and critical materials by Dr. Matic Kocijančič, curator and head of the archival collection at the Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI).
