According to the old calendar, spring began on March 12, St. Gregory’s Day. On the eve of this day, especially in craft towns, there was a custom of “throwing the light into the water,” which meant that craftsmen stopped working by artificial light, as the days were becoming longer. They made paper boats, houses, and little churches with candles and set them afloat on the water.

At the creative workshop, you will make small houses (gregorčki) from biodegradable materials. On March 11, the eve of St. Gregory’s Day, you will be able to set them afloat on the Gradaščica River and thus celebrate the beginning of spring.
