SGGW Warsaw University of Life Sciences Choir with conductor Dr. Paweł Choina, will take a trip for International Choral Festival Chorus Inside Rovinj Croatia 2026. On 26th of August, they will stop in capital city of Slovenia to perform a concert before their competition in Rovinj.
The Warsaw University of Life Sciences Choir is a group of people united by the passion for music and singing. Their skills and commitment gave rise to the ensemble. This distinctive community comprises students, graduates, and others who play a significant role in the cultural and social life of the University. Their passion and dedication sustain a tradition of promoting musical culture that extends over more than 60 years.
The history of the WULS Choir is rooted in the rich achievements of earlier ensem-bles: the WULS Academic Choir and the WULS Chamber Choir. For many years, the WULS Academic Choir was directed by Henryk Wojnarowski and Andrzej Banasiewicz, and subsequently by Michał Dąbrowski. Its repertoire was dominated by sacred music from various periods, with particular emphasis on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Cantate Domino Festival was founded on the initiative of the WULS Academic Choir. The ensemble received numerous awards for its many concerts in Poland and abroad, as well as for its participation in competitions and festivals. The history of the WULS Chamber Choir, created to broaden the activities of the Zofia Solarzowa ‘Promni’ Folk Artistic Ensemble of WULS, forms an integral part of the musical tradition of the WULS Choir. In its first years, the Chamber Choir was conducted by Joanna Maluga, and later by Paweł Choina.
The year 2016 marked an important moment in the ensemble’s history: the choir took part in the celebrations of WULS’s 200th anniversary, performing at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw alongside Zbigniew Wodecki, Olga Bończyk, and Edyta Geppert. Over the years, the WULS Chamber Choir has participated in competitions and festivals, receiving nu-merous prizes and distinctions. In the 2024/2025 season, the WULS Choir celebrated the 60th anniversary of its traditions. To mark the occasion, in November 2024, the ensemble organised a jubilee concert at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw. Eminent Polish contemporary composers – Zuzanna Falkowska, Jarema Jarosiński, and Anna Maria Huszcza – were invited to collaborate with the choir, and created vocal-instru-mental works specially for the occasion. These works received their premières dur-ing the jubilee concert. The event was awarded a Gold Diploma at the Jubilee Fifth International ‘Music Eagles’ Competition, while Anna Maria Huszcza’s Zamówienie na ludzkość, premièred on that occasion, received a distinction ‘for a high score’, the second-highest result in its category.
