Largest ethnological festival in Slovenia

  • 11 Sept - 13 Sept 2026

    1241 Kamnik

Every September, Kamnik comes alive with traditional costumes, music, dance and stories that reveal the rich cultural heritage of Slovenia’s regions and the wider area.

The Days of National Costumes and Clothing Heritage offer visitors an insight into the diverse world of Slovenian traditions. For several days, the historic town centre of Kamnik transforms into a vibrant setting of colourful parades, musical and dance performances, traditional crafts, culinary experiences and a variety of accompanying events.

The 53rd edition of the festival will highlight the heritage of Gorenjska, showcasing its distinctive clothing traditions, music and dance. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the stories, customs and unique features behind traditional costumes and their importance within Slovenia’s cultural identity.

The highlight of the festival will be the traditional Sunday parade of national costumes, which will once again bring together numerous participants from Slovenia and abroad as they walk through Kamnik’s historic town centre, creating one of the festival’s most recognisable and memorable moments.
