European Days of Jewish Culture in Ljubljana

Jewish Culture Festival

  • 3 Sept - 6 Sept 2026

Križevniška ulica & other locations in Ljubljana

A rich programme dedicated to Jewish heritage, history and contemporary creativity returns to Ljubljana. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover Jewish culture through music, theatre, film, literature, exhibitions, culinary experiences, guided tours and talks.

Taking place every year across more than thirty European countries, the event offers an insight into almost two thousand years of Jewish history in Slovenia as well as contemporary Jewish life. The main venue will be Križevniška Street, home to the Jewish Cultural Centre Ljubljana and the only active synagogue in Slovenia, while individual events will also take place at other cultural venues across Ljubljana.

The programme will introduce visitors to Jewish culture through theatre performances, concerts, film screenings, literary events, exhibitions, culinary experiences, creative workshops and talks. A special focus will be placed on discovering Ljubljana’s Jewish heritage through guided tours of the synagogue, the Jewish Museum of Slovenia, medieval Jewish Ljubljana and the Stolpersteine memorials (Stumbling Stones Trail).

The event invites visitors to discover the stories, traditions and creativity of a community that has been an important part of Ljubljana’s cultural landscape for centuries, connecting the past with the present.
