Since 2017, kamishibai theatre has offered a gentle transition from the holidays into the new school year, guiding audiences through different corners of Ljubljana. Each year, the performances move to a new location, enriching the stories and connecting the city with art.
In 2017, we celebrated Plečnik above the city; in 2018, we explored bridges; in 2019, the city walls; in 2020, courtyards and atriums; in 2021, fountains; in 2022, grand portals; the year before last, children’s playgrounds; and last year, Ljubljana’s most beautiful trees.
This year, the festival unfolds beneath the bell towers, where performances are tailored to their historical and architectural surroundings. The bell tower is not just a backdrop — it becomes an active part of the storytelling, adding depth through its presence, acoustics, and symbolism.
Stories will be interwoven with local legends and historical events, while the ringing of bells will mark transitions and highlight dramatic moments.
Join them on this special journey, where stories intertwine with the city’s history and architecture.
