Summer of jazz music in the old town centre!

At open-air concerts held every Friday in July and August, Slovenian and international jazz ensembles take to the stage.

Join them on warm summer evenings in the heart of Ljubljana, where top Slovenian and international jazz musicians will fill the city’s streets with energy, rhythm, and improvisation.

Programme:

  • Friday, 25 July | 20:30 | Stari trg (Old Square)
    Slapar/Hude/Golob/Bostič (Slovenia)

The Slapar/Hude/Golob/Bostič Quartet brings together former high school classmates from the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana, who, after completing their studies at prestigious European institutions in Berlin, Basel, and Vienna, reunited musically in Slovenia. Their repertoire features original compositions by all members, alongside a selection of jazz standards, which the ensemble reinterprets through collaborative arrangement and adapts to their distinct artistic sensibility. In 2025, the quartet was awarded first prize at the national TEMSIG competition.

  • Friday, 1 August | 20:30 | Stari trg (Old Square)
    Gal Furlan Quartet (Slovenia)

Gal Furlan Quartet is a jazz combo from the area around Ajdovščina and Gorica assembled at the initiative of Gal Furlan, the author of the band’s debut album Almost Blues, which was released in 2022. In 2024 they released their second album Animal Kingdom. The music can be described as fusion jazz, but the songs weave together elements of Afro, funk, free jazz, and rock.

  • Friday, 8 August | 20:30 | Gornji trg (Upper Square)
Roland Abreu Triology (Cuba, Croatia/Netherlands, Slovenia)

This collaboration of three outstanding artists forms a peerless combination of guitar, acoustic bass and drums, leading to stunning results in terms of sound and arrangement, sparkled with rhythmic ideas, texture and space. The artists’ enthusiasm, passion, intensity and warmth can be experienced in every moment of their live performance presenting an inspiring and enjoyable powerhouse of original compositions.

  • Friday, 15 August | 20:30 | Gornji trg (Upper Square)
Lana Petrović & Ben Fitzpatrick Quartet (Slovenia, Italy, Ireland, Germany)

This musical program blends original compositions with reimagined jazz standards, creating a fresh sound that is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, yet shaped by a poetic narrative, a rich and evocative sonic landscape, and subtle influences of Balkan folk music. Ben Fitzpatrick, Tommaso Perazzo, Marcello Cardillo, and Philip Lewin—an established quartet of four award-winning musicians—captivate with their sophisticated musicianship, combining virtuosity with dynamic interplay to deliver a performance that is both thrilling and fulfilling for every jazz enthusiast. Together with Lana Petrovič, the musicians will leave the audience with the memory of quality music, and hopefully, a lasting emotional impression, as the selected pieces quietly carry introspective and thought-provoking messages. The program will feature original compositions alongside selected works from the wider treasury of jazz tradition.
