Mountain Bike Festival in Ljubljana

The now traditional September mountain biking festival in the capital follows the concept of bringing together cyclists, venues, and organizations. Just like in previous editions, it invites participation as well as watching and cheering.

Ljubljana is not only one of the most cyclist-friendly cities but also the unofficial capital of mountain biking. Why? Because many of the capital's residents see mountain biking not just as a recreational activity, but as a lifestyle.

The surrounding hills and mountains offer an abundance of excellent trails, maintained by an ever-growing community of dedicated volunteers. Ljubljana also boasts an entire network of KoloParks, a cycling school attended by nearly 200 children, and active clubs working to improve the quality and accessibility of the MTB scene. Notable features include Golovec Trails and Bike Park Ljubljana, which have become models for new trail parks across Slovenia. The biggest advantage is that all of this is integrated into the city itself—cycling paths lead directly to the trails, not car roads. In Ljubljana, cycling means you can easily ride from the trails to a café or ice cream spot right after your ride.

The Ljubljana MTB Weekend festival brings together and celebrates all of the above. The main focus remains simple: Ljubljana’s residents love to ride—and over three days, the festival will be all about cycling.

The event will be enriched with guided tours, competitive challenges, activities for all ages, and skill levels. The festival’s goal is to present Ljubljana as an excellent MTB destination and a base for cycling holidays in Slovenia to an international audience.

The fourth edition of the festival will be full of positive energy, a passion for cycling, and inspiration. Every participant will find something for themselves—and likely discover something new.
