Because the city’s cycling school has nearly 200 children enrolled.
Because there are active local clubs working to improve bike parks, increase trail accessibility, and raise the overall quality and reputation of the scene.
Because of local trail systems like Golovec Trails and Bike Park Ljubljana – both of which have inspired a wave of new trail parks across Slovenia.
And finally, because all of this is practically integrated into the city itself. Unlike most large cities, here you don’t need a car to reach the trails.

Ljubljana MTB Weekend celebrates and highlights the city’s deep-rooted love of cycling. At the heart of this three-day festival is movement – especially on two wheels.
The diverse programme offers something for everyone: from guided tours along scenic routes, to workshops for kids, teens and adults, to competitive challenges and a jaw-dropping big jump show that promises to be a real crowd-pleaser. The event is designed so that everyone can find their place – regardless of age or experience.
