Moste Open is a community event where people come together in public space, moving beyond individuality and privacy to form a diverse yet unified collective. It is a celebration of care – for others, the environment, imagination and solidarity – expressed through creation, exchange, learning, fulfilment and support. Whether through artistic interventions, performances, education, music or fairs, the event is shaped by and for the community.
The eighth edition centres on “Dance of Community, Community of Dance.” On this day, the Španski Borci Cultural Centre, a home of contemporary dance and performing arts, steps beyond its institutional walls and into the neighbourhood. Together with partners like Moste Youth Station, local associations and schools, it creates spaces where imagination meets resilience, and music and education become tools of connection and solidarity.
This year introduces an expanded view of dance – spontaneous movement and community-driven choreography, urban dance and dance on wheels, folklore, dancing in nature (with or against it), the movement of ageing, and alternative uses of the body and public space. Dance becomes both expression and care, grounded in lived experience.
Events take place along and on the River Ljubljanica, in front of Španski Borci, in the MAO park, on playgrounds, and at the local pump track. The programme echoes the spirit of Na Knap – Festival of Short Dance Forms, as Moste Open opens dance to the city and the city to dance.
