UNICUM 2026

Ljubljana is once again becoming the hub of global ceramic creativity. A record-breaking 395 artists from over 50 countries applied for this year's 6th edition of the UNICUM 2026 Triennial. Among them, the works of 170 selected artists from more than 30 countries will be on display across three venues in Ljubljana, confirming the exceptional international reputation and growth of this project.

A Breakthrough Step: Where Art Meets Applied Design

This year's triennial marks a major milestone. Seventeen years after the inaugural UNICUM in 2009, the traditional exhibition of artistic ceramics is joined for the very first time by a dedicated exhibition project focusing on applied ceramic design.

Titled Beyond Use (Brezmejna uporaba), this exhibition is co-produced with Center Rog and explores new perspectives and dimensions regarding the role of ceramics in our daily lives.

In addition to the main events, the triennial features two highly intriguing exhibition segments hosted at Metelkova:

• The International Student Ceramics Exhibition, showcasing fresh ideas and the future of the medium.
• A selection of contemporary artistic ceramics by members of the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH).
