Just a few steps from the Krakovski nasip embankment, in the historic Zois Mansion, lived and worked Vlasto Kopač, one of the most versatile creative figures in 20th-century Slovenia.
He was an architect, a student of Jože Plečnik, a conservator, designer, illustrator, cartographer, mountaineer and a dedicated guardian of Slovenia's natural and cultural heritage. Through his broad interests and unwavering commitment, he helped preserve countless stories, artefacts, drawings, monuments and records that might otherwise have been lost to time.
To present the full breadth of his remarkable legacy, from architecture and design to mountains, heritage and collective memory, museums, heritage institutions and research organisations that care for his collections have joined forces to create this exhibition. Marking the 20th anniversary of his death, it is one of a series of events taking place throughout the year in his honour.
The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover a man who not only shaped places but also understood them, protected them and knew how to listen to them. Discover the story of Vlasto Kopač, a visionary who lived just around the corner.
