Homec Fairy World (Vilinski Homec, Domžale)
© Archive of Ljubljana Tourism
Set off on a magical woodland journey through the Homec Fairy World! Discover wild plants and learn how to use them, feel the power of a miraculous spring, and listen to the enchanting songs of the forest rusalke fairies. The Fairy Keys will teach you the virtues of the fairies, and upon successfully completing your tasks you’ll be rewarded with a well-deserved fairy prize.
Nestled in a beautiful land once dotted with mills clanking one beside the other, lies the hamlet of Homec, through which the Kamniška Bistrica River flows. Even today, small streams called mlinščice meander through the area, that not long ago were bustling with numerous mills. Legend tells of river fairies and elves who dance their secret fairy dances in the forest in the glow of the morning dawn. Long ago, humans and fairies lived in harmony and friendship, but now the fairies can only be seen by the purest of souls. Could we meet them again and rekindle the friendship between humans and fairies?
This wonderful family experience (recommended for children aged six and above) also delights lovers of well-kept trails telling a story and original nature-based adventures. The trail is well signposted with directional markers and well-maintained throughout.
An essential part of the adventure is the Fairy Notebook, available for purchase at the starting point of the journey. There is also a picture book, Fairy Dance, to complement your visit.
