Set off on Slovenia’s first musical mountain trail! The Sound of the Cursed Countess guides you through the legend of a cursed countess from the castle above Dobrova, just on Ljubljana’s doorstep. This unusual adventure is filled with sounds you create yourself on large and unique instruments and sound devices set up in the forest. As you make music, you’ll learn the story of the countess and discover the human virtues that make our world better and more beautiful.

Atop Gradišče above Dobrova stands a castle where an arrogant countess once lived. Her haughtiness brought a curse, and the castle vanished – along with her. Only a person who has washed their face with clean water can break the spell. But so far no one has done this, and the countess is still waiting for someone to lift her curse. Will that special someone be you?
Along the trail you’ll explore the local nature, collect coins, and solve a musical crossword – all to eventually free the countess from the curse and earn a reward.

This lively experience (recommended for children aged six and above) also delights other lovers of well-kept trails telling a story and original nature-based adventures. The trail is well signposted with directional markers and well-maintained throughout.
An essential part of the experience is the Jingling Notebook, which you can purchase at the adventure’s trailhead. The picture book, The Cursed Countess, is also available.

Where is the starting point for the Echo of the Cursed Countess Trail (Dobrova)?

You can also reach the starting point by LPP bus number 6.

The trail begins at G Design Hotel and initially follows the sidewalk along the paved road toward Dobrova, passing Vrtnarija Breskvar and Eurogarden. After 1.3 km, you reach the Fire Station in Podsmreka, where you cross the road at a marked crossing. From there, follow the hiking trail markings and signs for the Echo of the Cursed Countess.
