Ljubljana has been shortlisted at the ITTA 2019 for Best Food Destination

To fulfill their needs and to build our competitive advantage on locally grown food, showcasing our awareness of the importance of local sourcing, creation of local jobs, reduction of carbon footprint and minimization of environmental pressures, we had to increase the percentage of locally sourced food in Ljubljana hotels and restaurants. The finalists were chosen from more than one hundred travel and tourism businesses that entered across the 15 award categories.

Coming up: November Gourmet Ljubljana is on

Ljubljana’s culinary offer is gaining international recognition, as demonstrated by the arrival of two renowned gastronomic guides; last November at the November Gourmet Finale event the Gault & Millau Ljubljana / Ljubljana Quality special issue was launched, and in June 2020, the iconic Michelin guide revealed the first-ever Michelin Stars in Slovenia - Ljubljana received its first Star and also quite a number of restaurants from Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Region received special ratings. Furthermore, Slovenia will be a proud holder of the title European region of gastronomy 2021 next year.

Ljubljana–Zbilje Lake

The town’s religious heritage is attested by its 19 churches, while a large number of wayside shrines and chapels can be found throughout the municipality. Continue on to the lake, where you will find a popular restaurant with a panoramic terrace and a boathouse where you can hire a rowing boat for a trip across the lake.
