That's a pretty usual question for locals and foreign visitors of Ljubljana. Before we attempt to answer the question we have to ask ourselves what it is that we expect from this coffee.

‘We could move,’ I told my husband with a wavering voice. ‘Just imagine,’ I tried to get us both excited, ‘leaving the hustle and bustle of the city for the quiet.’ I stopped. That wasn’t it. I tried to think but I couldn’t find an upside to justify the decision to move from Ljubljana to the country side, other than the prices of real estate. I like the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s actually one of the reasons I love Ljubljana.

I’ve been living in Ljubljana all my life and it never ceases to amaze me. I feel I’m privileged to live in a city like Ljubljana and I still firmly believe it’s one of the best places to live.

Just like New York City has Central Park, Ljubljana has Tivoli Park. And it’s not just a place for jogging and sitting on benches while feeding squirrels. It’s a place to go when you need to calm your mind, recharge and decompress. It’s so versatile, with many spots to visit and activities to enjoy.

As much as I tout Slovenia's summers being amazing, there's still a tiny corner of my soul that itches for cooler temperatures. Shady forests, rivers, gorges, waterfalls, and Alpine villages, you say? I know a place just a short drive from Ljubljana that’s got it all!

Ljubljana’s wine scene is something to write home about. You already know Slovenia is a home of many wine regions and wine varieties and luckily, they all come together in many wine bars and wine themed events that will spice up your Ljubljana visit. If you visit Ljubljana's city centre there are two churches you won’t be able to miss – Saint Nicholas’s Cathedral and the uniquely coloured pink Church of the Annunciation located on the Prešernov trg square. Up among the bush, just a few kilometers south of Ljubljana, binoculars in one hand and a camera in the other, I’m mesmerized by a beautiful sight; a herd of roe deer munching their way through rusty-colored plains. I’d planned spending a few hours exploring the Ljubljana Marshes, wetlands greatly diverse in wildlife, and ended doing a 17-km circle and returning there over the next few days. To say the least, the Ljubljana Marshes themselves were a treat and are easily my favorite place for a relaxing adventure near the capital.
