Ethnomusicologists from four continents in Ljubljana
Peunik © Archaeological Park Divje Babe Some fifty ethnomusicologists from Japan, Portugal, Iran, United States, Uruguay and other countries will meet from 24 – 27 August in Ljubljana’s City Museum. The main discussion will be around theoretical and methodological aspects of audiovisual ethnomusicology, use of A-V technologies in research and documentation, concluding with the prospects and challenges this new study field is facing.

Renovation of the Ljubljana Town Hall
The renovation will take place in two phases: from 20 July 2018: restoration of the facade, with the help of a construction stage (approximately 120 days) from 15 August 2018: renovation of the wall paintings in the inner atrium (approximately 90 days) In the second phase of the renovation, the historical atrium, including sgrafitto wall paintings, the Narcissus fountain by Baroque sculptor Francesco Robba and occasional exhibitions, will not be accessible for visits. The gathering place for the regular daily guided city tours, taking place at 11:00, 14:00 and 17:00 in the summer months, will remain in front of the Town Hall throughout the renovation.

Application also included following a responsible tourism policy (Ljubljana was first Slovenian destination to receive a golden certificate in the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism); management of tourist flows, creation and promotion of new attractive areas outside the city centre in order to loosen the pressure of visitors on the main sights and to obtain pleasant living for the citizens; active participation in development and promotion of sustainable mobility options; organized procurement and distribution of local food and drinks via the Green Supply Chains system; and assistance in gaining and obtaining environmental certificates for accommodation providers.

At the Global Green Destinations Day conference Ljubljana was again ranked among the Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations. The first time our city was included in this list was in 2014. Beside Ljubljana, all of Slovenian destinactions holding the national Slovenia Green Destination quality mark were also ranked on the list, making Slovenia the country with most sustainable destinations in the world
