Traveldudes back in Ljubljana and its region

Pekel Gorge
This popular destination offers the perfect escape into nature, where the refreshing coolness of the gorge provides a welcome retreat from the summer heat. The path through the wild and scenic Pekel Gorge, carved by the Borovniščica brook and well known for its waterfalls, begins at the Gostišče Pekel restaurant and crosses the gorge in various directions.

Railway Museum
The workings of modern-day railways do not differ much from those of the railways of the past, except that mechanical devices are now replaced by electronic systems. In spring and summer, the Railway Museum hosts occasional meetings of train enthusiasts. On such occasions, old steam locomotives are taken out of hangars and their furnaces are fired up as part of the museum's efforts to keep all the artefacts in operational condition.

The Podpeč lake
From the lake, the water flows underground through a deep sinkhole. Popular hiking point In summer time, there is a small bathing site arranged at the lake. There is also a pleasant restaurant with delicious Slovenian dishes. Fishing is also permitted.

The part of the castle converted into a museum houses original furniture, porcelain, fief ownership records (urbaria), ceramic stoves and other original furnishings. Various cultural events are held in the inner courtyard in the summer. The castle has a wedding hall, where couples can choose to be married in medieval costumes. Volčji Potok Arboretum
The Arboretum also features specially marked paths leading through beneficial energy points. In the old part of the park you can take a break in the summer café and there is also a large playground for children. The Arboretum is situated in the former mansion park, of which only ruins remain today.
