Slovenia may not be known for its golf, but it’s a popular destination! Here’s our guide to the best golf courses in Ljubljana and Slovenia.

That's a pretty usual question for locals and foreign visitors of Ljubljana. Before we attempt to answer the question we have to ask ourselves what it is that we expect from this coffee.

If you are a foodie, you might want to read this. Ljubljana will see its first edition of the November Gourmet Ljubljana food and wine festival, going on for the whole of that month. Let me offer some tips on what to expect.

Weekends are always wonderful in Ljubljana. Embrace the liveliness of the farmers market, take a walk around and do a bit of locally inspired shopping. Visit one this weekend and be amazed how arty Ljubljana and its residents can be.

While Ljubljana is very family friendly and there are plenty of things kids can do here – from museums to the zoo and galleries, kids’ favourite are playgrounds. And the capital of Slovenia has plenty of them. So, I asked my kids to help me pick a few of the best ones. Make sure you include them in your visit of Ljubljana.

If you have visited Slovenia before or were even born somewhere in the Balkans, you probably know what štruklji are. For those of you who don't, štruklji are boiled or baked rolls of filo pastry, which can contain various fillings.

Vast plains underneath a playground of jagged peaks, slow paths, unique oval huts for shepherds, friendly people and good food. Velika Planina, arguably the biggest and oldest shepherds’ settlement in Europe that remains active up to date, is a hiking paradise for families, photographers, and those who seek a relaxing day out in unspoilt nature.

Let’s make a cocktail. Shake lots of water with some Tchaikovsky’s talent and spice it up with »the good old days« flavour. Voilà!

If you are visiting the capital of Slovenia with kids, your itinerary should definitely include a few fun hours spent at the lovely Ljubljana Zoo.

I love it when I find a terrace with a perfect view of the city or a place where I can sip a cold drink during warmer days. Ljubljana center has plenty of bars and restaurants with lovely terraces or gardens and I’m sure you’ll find and enjoy them. Since the options in the center are so awesome, there are also some places usually missed when searching for a place for drinks and good company.
