Preden odgovorimo na to vprašanje, se moramo vprašati, kaj sploh pričakujemo od te kave. Od naših pričakovanj je namreč odvisno, kam se bomo usedli oziroma ali se bomo sploh usedli – ali pa jo bomo spili kar po poti.

Listening to some smooth jazzy beats is perfect for unwinding after a long day or simply elevating the mood. Luckily, there are places in Ljubljana to do just that. Did you know that jazz has been a staple in Ljubljana’s culture for a very long time? Why not explore the scene yourself?

Krvavec is the local mountain of the "Ljubljančani" – in fact, flying into Ljubljana, you can almost shake hands with it on the way down. Part of the Kamnik Alps, this spectacular mountain group stretches up from 1,600 to 2,000 metres. Just 20 minutes from the city centre, It’s a fabulous year-round outdoor playground.

All great capitals of the world have something in common - little pockets or enclaves of culture, entertainment and fun outside the city centre. These areas, neighborhoods or streets are often the pulsing hearts of cities and offer experiences that are usually the perfect foil to the more sanitised and predictable ones in the more central locations.

What do you think of when you hear ‘Ljubljana’? Is it a lovely little capital of a beautiful country with a romantic Old Town along the river Ljubljanica… inviting taverns, good food, cosy people, lots to see, always good for a few relaxing days’?

Ever since I had found out about the wind tunnel opening in Logatec, a town 30 kilometers west of Ljubljana, I wanted to see what it is all about. I already jumped out of an airplane with a parachute and loved it, so I wanted to check this out as well and see how different from skydiving this experience is.

If you visit Ljubljana's city centre there are two churches you won’t be able to miss – Saint Nicholas’s Cathedral and the uniquely coloured pink Church of the Annunciation located on the Prešernov trg square. But if you like a good story, appreciate interesting architecture and history there are more churches in the capital of Slovenia that you can visit. Here are the ones that I’d recommend.

If you consider the invention of the wheel and the development of music to be among the most important foundations of a civilised society, it’s true! The first wooden wheel and the first musical instrument were both discovered here - so Slovenia really does have a strong claim.

If one thing’s for certain is that you’ll never go hungry in Ljubljana. There is a true myriad of flavours that satisfy every taste. But you don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant to enjoy some good food. Sometimes the best meals are the ones served on a paper plate or wrapped in tin foil. Grab some extra pair of napkins and enjoy some of the most unique street food you’ve ever seen.

As much as I tout Slovenia's summers being amazing, there's still a tiny corner of my soul that itches for cooler temperatures. Shady forests, rivers, gorges, waterfalls, and Alpine villages, you say? I know a place just a short drive from Ljubljana that’s got it all!
