Creative Experiences in Ljubljana
Creativity in Ljubljana is not viewed only from a safe distance. We put tools into visitors’ hands and invite them to have a go. The finished piece may not make it into a museum. It will almost certainly make it into their suitcase.

Together with masters of traditional crafts, we have developed eight boutique craft experiences. Visitors can repair their own umbrella, create in an old printing workshop and explore weaving, pottery and goldsmithing. They learn directly from the people keeping these valuable skills alive. Craft knowledge does not remain behind glass or buried in an archive. It passes from hand to hand, which is much healthier for it.
Tradition, of course, does not have a monopoly on creativity. Together with local creatives, we have also developed contemporary experiences that open the doors to their studios and workshops. Visitors design shoelaces at Studio Draž, make a T-shirt at Anselma, create porcelain jewellery at Studio Juha and a leather bracelet at EvilEve, enter the world of comics in Izar’s studio or design a unique piece with Martina Obid Mlakar. Here, there is no velvet rope between creator and visitor. Just a shared workbench.
Rather than building new sets for visitors, we create tourism experiences around the knowledge, places and people already shaping Ljubljana. This keeps intangible cultural heritage alive, supports local creatives and craftspeople, and strengthens the creative economy. Tourism enters the local creative ecosystem as a guest, not its director.
In 2026, the Creative Tourism Network named Ljubljana Europe’s Best Creative City Destination. The title is lovely. Better still, knowledge remains alive, creatives gain new opportunities and visitors leave with something they made themselves. Under expert supervision, just in case.
